The day before the democratic debate i posted a diary asking the question who won’t be watching the debate. Well, the numbers are in. 8.5 million people watched the debate. i didn’t think a lot of people would be watching because one, it was a saturday night and two, saturday is a day when young people socialize so i didn’t think they would be watching. i expected the people who responded to the post would watch. that didn’t surprise me, but the low number was disappointing and so the controversy begins.
“We can’t fool ourselves — the Republicans are eating our lunch in terms of attention and viewership because of the unprecedented, unilateral, and arbitrary way the DNC Chair determined this schedule,” said Lis Smith, deputy campaign manager for Martin O’Malley. “It’s clear we need to open up the process, have more debates, and engage more voters in this process."
